Soft Borders

Years after the opening of the first dental clinic and soon after the opening of its neighbor one, the two dentists decided to merge in one space and partly invite a third collaborator. Rare Encounters envisioned the 125m² space as the broadening of the two existing spaces into a more welcoming and playful one.

The examination rooms were kept in the familiar spots while we inserted a glass-curtain box in between them serving the third collaborator and the communication of all three.

With shared spaces and facilities such as the waiting area, the reception and their equipment in the back of the rooms the new dentistry is redesigned both as a working and a visitors’ space.

The glass walls paired with the attiring curtain create both a clean separation and a more textural surface on either side of the room. The two ends of the elongated waiting room are organised as the reception and the waiting bleachers.
